CINCINNATI, OHIO - The St. John's volleyball team fell, 3-0, in its final match of the season at Cincinnati (22-9, 12-2 BIG EAST) on Sunday to finish at 9-21 on the season and 2-12 in BIG EAST action. The Red Storm was led by sophomore Darlene Ramdin, who tallied nine kills and seven digs against the Bearcats.
A 10-1 run by the Bearcats capped the first set as the Red Storm fell, 25-12, in the stanza.
In set two, STJ tied the score at nine, but couldn't come any closer. The Red Storm would score four late points as the Bearcats held the set-point opportunity before a kill handed Cincinnati the set, 25-17.
The Bearcats took the lead early and never relinquished, winning the match with a 25-10 victory in the third set.
Ramdin added two blocks to her nine kill-seven dig performance. Junior Kun Song tallied nine digs, a team-high and added five kills. Freshman setter Gabriela Petkova recorded 16 assists, one ace and seven digs in the match.
The Red Storm finished the 2009 season with a 9-21 overall mark and a 2-12 BIG EAST Conference record.
