St. John's Climbs To No. 14 In NSCAA Poll

QUEENS, N.Y. - After winning a conference-record eighth BIG EAST Tournament crown with a shootout win against Notre Dame, the St. John's men's soccer team has climbed to No. 14 in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) poll. The Red Storm (9-2-9) had been No. 24 in the previous poll.
St. John's also moved up to No. 6 in the Soccer America rankings.
On Monday, the Red Storm was awarded the No. 13 overall seed in the NCAA Tournament and a first round bye. St. John's will open tournament play at Belson Stadium with a 6 p.m. game on Sunday, Nov. 22. The Red Storm will host the winner of a first round matchup between Dartmouth and Boston College. BC hosts Dartmouth at 7 p.m. on Nov. 19.
After playing the Fighting Irish to a 0-0 draw, St. John's claimed its eighth BIG EAST Tournament championship with a 5-3 win in a shootout. The Red Storm defeated Providence, 2-0, in the semifinals and Rutgers, 3-0, in the quarterfinals.
The Red Storm enters the NCAA Tournament on a 13-game unbeaten streak (7-0-6).
