Gustafsson Named To CoSIDA Academic All-District Second Team

QUEENS, N.Y. - Senior defender Joel Gustafsson has been named to the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District second team as presented by ESPN The Magazine. This is the second-straight year that Gustafsson has earned second team academic all-district honors.
A philosophy major, Gustafsson has a 3.40 grade point average. The reigning BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Year has appeared in all 17 games this season, while starting in 16 contests. Gustafsson has one assist on the year, setting up the game-winning goal in a 2-0 win against Rutgers. The center back has helped anchor a defensive unit that has posted eight shutouts and a 0.53 goals against average.
St. John's (7-2-8, 6-1-4) clinched a first round bye in the BIG EAST Tournament and will host quarterfinal action at 6 p.m. on Nov. 7.
