Becerra, Clack Invited To 2010 adidas MLS Player Combine

QUEENS, N.Y. - Major League Soccer has announced that Nelson Becerra and Ben Clack have been invited to the 2010 adidas MLS Player Combine. A total of 62 college seniors from 44 Division I schools were invited to participate in the combine, which will be held at Central Broward Regional Park in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., from Jan. 8-12.
A 2009 second team All-BIG EAST selection, Becerra played in 61 games and made 39 starts in three seasons with St. John's. The midfielder finished his career with 14 goals, including six game-winners, and 11 assists for 39 points. In 2008, Becerra was the BIG EAST Midfielder of the Year and a third team NSCAA All-Region selection after tallying eight goals, including five game-winners, and seven assists.
Clack capped a solid career at St. John's by earning second team All-BIG EAST honors this past year. In 63 career games, including 53 starts, the defender tallied three goals and two assists for eight points. Clack helped anchor a defensive unit that notched 27 shutouts in the past two seasons, including a nation-leading 16 in 2008.
The coaching and management staffs of all 16 MLS squads will be in attendance at the combine to scout prior to the 2010 MLS SuperDraft, which takes place in Philadelphia on Jan. 14. At the 2009 MLS SuperDraft, 42 of the 60 players drafted attended the 2009 MLS Player Combine.
Goalkeeper Neal Kitson was invited to the 2009 MLS Player Combine and was selected in the third round (42nd overall) by the Kansas City Wizards. St. John's has 12 all-time selections in the MLS SuperDraft, including 2009 MLS MVP finalist Shalrie Joseph (2002) and Chris Wingert (2004) of Real Salt Lake, the 2009 MLS Cup champions.
