St. John's Head Coach Norm Roberts
Opening Statement
"We played much better defense in the second half and stayed solid down on them. We were gambling too much in the first half, which allowed them to get that run and they made some shots. Then I thought our bench came in and did some good things for us as well."
St. John's Junior Guard Paris Horne
On what the team needs to work on heading in to BIG EAST play
"Our defense, our free throws and just continuing to get to the loose balls and the 50-50 plays. We need to continue working on the half-court offense."
On how it feels to get out of a shooting slump
"It feels good. I knew it would happened sooner or later. I just stayed with it, stayed in the gym and just kept shooting. That's all."
On how this game helps after the Cornell game
"Definitely, to get our spirits back up, bounce back from the loss and now we're just got to get ready for the second half of the season, for the BIG EAST."
On what it was like to have a wide-margin win over Bryant
"That was our MO during the season. We might play a little weaker opponent and it would be a close game. So we just wanted to come out and just try to win and blow them out. We wanted to try to help get the walk-ons on because we know maybe in the BIG EAST, they won't get to play. So we just wanted to do that for them."
St. John's Junior Forward Sean Evans
On what the team needs to work on heading in to BIG EAST play
"We've got to execute better, shoot free throws better and play harder on the defensive ball and I think we'll be alright."
On how much the team watched the Cornell tape
"We watched the Cornell tape. We watched our mistakes. We watched the good things and the bad things."
Bryant Head Coach Tim O'Shea
On St. John's:
"I think St. John's has a good team this year. I'm happy for Norm because he took his time building the program. He played all of those freshmen through a lot of mistakes. I actually played this team about two years ago out in Hawaii, and all of these guys were freshmen then. To see the development of the program, I think they have a chance to have a very good year."
On Bryant's upcoming schedule:
"We have two very tough road games coming up (Indiana and Cornell). We've had a tough stretch of I think 14 out of 16 games on the road. It's not easy, but we're going to continue to persevere and continue to work at getting better."
