QUEENS, N.Y. - The St. John's men's soccer team will be featured on this week's episode of Inside The BIG EAST. The episode will air on SportsNet New York (SNY) on Friday, Dec. 4 at 7 p.m., and will have a replay at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Dec 5. ESPNU will also carry the show at 5 p.m. on Dec. 4.
The St. John's segment will focus on the 2009 BIG EAST Tournament Finals between the Red Storm and the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. After playing to a scoreless draw in regulation, St. John's earned its conference-record eighth tournament crown with a 5-3 victory in the penalty kick shootout.
The segment will feature highlights from the game as well as interviews with head coach Dr. Dave Masur, senior goalkeeper Derby Carrillo and sophomore defender Connor Lade. Carrillo posted shutouts in both the semifinals and finals and was named the tournament's Most Outstanding Defensive Player. Lade, meanwhile, converted the clinching penalty kick and was named to the all-tournament team.
This week's episode will also have features on the men's and women's basketball media days and on a pair of West Virginia football players, quarterback Jarrett Brown and linebacker Reed Williams.
Inside The BIG EAST is a weekly magazine show that highlights the athletic interests of the schools in the BIG EAST conference. Televised on numerous affiliates both locally and nationally, including SNY and ESPNU, the show is also distributed on regional sports networks throughout the country.
