QUEENS, N.Y. - Head Coach Norm Roberts
On Georgetown:
"They're always good at a lot of things, but they really run a great offense with a lot of motion and a lot of movement. They can score the ball. Greg Monroe is one of the best players in the country, so we'll have to limit his touches and keep them off the glass, because they do a great job on rebounds."
On St. John's goals for league play:
"League play is difficult because teams know each other very well and all of the games are going to be wars. Every game is a war and you've got to come out and you've got to play with passion and focus in order to win, especially on the road. We just have to concentrate on doing the things that we've been doing."
Junior guard Malik Boothe:
On if there is any pressure playing on the road against conference opponent, Georgetown, in a nationally televised game:
"I don't think there is added pressure. I think if we have the same mindset to come out there and play tough, and maintain a defensive mindset, it should be a good game."
On being 10-2 in non-conference competition and heading into league play:
"I think our mindset was to get good preparation for what's coming up right now, which is the BIG EAST season. We've got to come out and play hard, like I've said before, and hopefully things go well for us."
On whether St John's has something to prove headed into league play:
"I think we do because a lot of people really doubted us headed into the BIG EAST season, despite what our record is right now. But we want to come out, play hard, and prove everybody wrong, and show that St. John's is a program to be reckoned with."
Junior forward Justin Burrell:
On how his ankle feels, heading to Georgetown:
It's pretty good. I've been practicing for the last couple of days, trying to get my strength back and my timing back."
On the progression of his practice time with his ankle injury:
"I spend about a half hour up to about an hour and fifteen minutes, so I'm really excited to see if I can get out there and play."
On how he feels while waiting to hear if he can play in Thursday's night game against Georgetown:
"I feel pretty good. As soon as the decision comes out, I'll know if I'm feeling good or not."
