QUEENS, N.Y. - St. John's Director of Academic Support for Student-Athletes Eric Rienecker announced the hiring of Victoria Laemmel as Assistant Director in the Student Development for Athletes department. Laemmel will serve as the academic liaison for volleyball, women's soccer and lacrosse.
"Vicki has a tremendous amount of experience in the academic support field," said Rienecker. "Her background, experience and understanding of the Vincentian Mission will make her a vital resource for our student-athletes and coaches."
Laemmel, a native of Merrick, N.Y., returns home after serving two years as an intern within Athletic Academic Support Services Department at the University of Louisville. With the Cardinals, her responsibilities included counseling and monitoring the academic progress of members of the football team. She also assisted with the coordination of Louisville's Student-Athletes of Color Combining Opportunity and Responsibility for Excellence (SCORE).
Prior to studying and working at the Louisville, she worked for The Women's Sports Foundation, Disney's Wide World of Sports and Springfield Technical Community College.
Laemmel received her master's degree in sport administration from Louisville in 2009 and earned her bachelor's degree in sport management with a minor in business at Springfield College in 2006.
