NEW YORK - TEAM NOTES
- St. John's shot 73.1 percent (19-for-26) from the charity stripe. The effort marked the Red Storm's second best free throw percentage of the season and best since an 85.2 percent effort (23-for-27) in the season-opener against Saint Mary's.
- The Red Storm improved to 5-0 this season when shooting more free throws than the opposition.
- St. John's held Davidson, which entered the contest shooting 43.6 percent from the floor, to just 34.0 percent (16-for-47).
- Despite committing a season-high 17 turnovers, St. John's forced 21 Davidson turnovers and has now committed fewer turnovers than the opposition in all nine game this year.
INDIVIDUAL NOTES
- D.J. Kennedy scored 17 points, including 10 in the second half, to reach double figures for the fifth time this season. Kennedy climbed to No. 25 on the all-time scoring list and now has 1,280 points in his career. The senior finished with nine rebounds for the second-straight game.
- In his Madison Square Garden debut, Dwayne Polee II tallied six points, three rebounds and one steal in 14 minutes of action. The six-point output was the freshman's best performance since scoring eight points on Nov. 26 against Drake.
- Dwight Hardy reached double-figures for the seventh-straight game with a 12-point effort.
- Held scoreless in the first half, Paris Horne finished with six points. Horne added three rebounds, all offensive.
- Justin Burrell grabbed seven rebounds, five of which came in the second half, and added five points.
- Dele Coker made his second-straight start and finished with one rebound, one assist and one block in nine minutes.
