NEW YORK - TEAM NOTES
- St. John's captured its 16th Holiday Festival crown and, coupled with the 2010 Carrs/Safeway Great Alaska Shootout title, has now won two regular season tournaments in the same season for the first time since the 1990-91 season (Joe Lapchick Memorial Tournament & BYU Cougar Classic.
- The Red Storm had five players in double-figures for the first time this season. Those five players, in fact, combined to score all 89 points.
- Sparked by an 80.0 percent (16-for-20) shooting effort in the second half, the Red Storm shot a season-best 59.6 percent (31-for-52) from the field.
- St. John's dished out a season-high 22 assists.
INDIVIDUAL NOTES
- The Lou Carnesecca Holiday Festvial MVP, Justin Brownlee scored a career-high 21 points in the championship. The senior averaged 16.0 points, 5.0 rebounds and 2.0 assists in the two games. Brownlee, who was also the Most Outstanding Player in the Great Alaska Shootout, has averaged 20.5 points in two regular season tournament championship games this year.
- Dwight Hardy tied a career-high with five 3-pointers en route to a team-high 24-point effort. A member of the All-Tournament Team, Hardy averaged 18.0 points, 3.0 assists and shot 40.0 percent (6-for-15) from long range in the two games.
- Justin Burrell finished with a season high 17 points, his best scoring effort since a 10-point performance at DePaul (March 5, 2010). Burrell grabbed a season-best nine rebounds and was a perfect 6-for-6 from the floor.
- Dwayne Polee II finished with 10 points and five rebounds in 19 minutes of action. Polee averaged 8.0 points and 4.0 rebounds in the Festival.
- D.J. Kennedy added 13 points to jump one more spot on all-time scoring list. Kennedy now ranks No. 24 with 1,293 career points.
