Panik Earns CoSIDA Second Team Academic All-District Honors

QUEENS, N.Y. - Shortstop Joe Panik has been selected to the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District I second team, as announced by the organization and presented by ESPN The Magazine.
A Finance major with a 3.67 GPA, Panik is batting .404 in 41 games this season with 13 doubles, five home runs and a team-best four triples. A 2009 NCBWA freshman All-American, Panik leads the team with a .497 on-base percentage and ranks second with a .642 slugging percentage.
Panik currently ranks fourth in the BIG EAST in batting average, third in on-base percentage and tied for third in triples.
St. John's has had at least one Academic All-District selection in each of the past five seasons, including a school-record three first team selections in 2008.
