St. John's Names Katie Hughes Assistant Athletic Trainer

QUEENS, N.Y. - The St. John's athletic department announced on Tuesday the appointment of Katie Hughes to the position of assistant athletic trainer. Hughes will primarily be responsible for the baseball and women's soccer teams.
Hughes is a NATA-certified trainer who comes to St. John's from Central Connecticut State University, where she worked as a graduate assistant trainer for the men's soccer team. She also assisted with the baseball, lacrosse, softball, football and men's and women's basketball teams.
"We are looking forward to having Katie join our staff," said Ron Linfonte, Assistant Athletic Director for Sports Medicine. "She brings experience as a trainer as well as experience as a varsity athlete at the Division I level."
Hughes earned her masters of science in Physical Education from Central Connecticut State in 2010. She received her undergraduate degree in athletic training from CCSU in 2008.
Hughes played lacrosse with the Blue Devils from 2003-07, serving as a team captain in 2006 and 2007.
Apart from her experience at CCSU, Hughes also worked as a trainer at The Perfect Workout!, a personal training and physical therapy center in Avon, Conn.
