QUEENS, N.Y. - Senior defender Connor Lade has earned first team All-Northeast Region honors as announced by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA). Lade, who earned second team All-Northeast Region honors in 2010, is the Red Storm's 54th All-Region selection and first two-time All-Region honoree since Matt Groenwald (2004-05).
Lade started all 23 games for St. John's (14-7-2) and was the only player to play all 2,170 minutes, playing every minute for the second-straight season. A second team All-BIG EAST selection, the captain helped anchor a defensive unit that posted 11 shutouts.
The defender also earned BIG EAST Tournament Most Outstanding Defensive Player honors and was named to the All-Tournament Team after helping lead St. John's to its conference-record ninth BIG EAST Tournament crown.
The two-time All-BIG EAST selection and two-tome BIG EAST All-Tournament Team honoree totaled one goal and four assists in his St. John's career. The four-year starter, who earlier this week signed a professional contract with the New York Red Bulls, started 86 of a possible 87 games for the Red Storm.
The captain helped lead St. John's to three NCAA Tournament appearances (2008, 2009, 2011), a pair of BIG EAST Tournament titles (2009, 2011), one NCAA College Cup (2008), one BIG EAST regular season crown (2008) and a 52-19-16 (.690) overall record.
