QUEENS, N.Y. - Team Notes
- St. John's shot a season-high 56.9 percent (33-of-58) from the field, the highest since firing at a 58.2 percent (32-of-55) clip in a win against Duke on Jan. 30, 2011. The Red Storm is shooting 55.9 percent (66-of-118) in the past two games.
- St. John's had four players in double-figures for the second-straight game and is 2-0 this season in such contests.
- St. John's held South Carolina to just 21.7 percent (5-of-23) shooting from long range and has allowed opponents to shoot just 26.2 percent (17-of-65) from 3-point land in the past three games.
- The BIG EAST leaders in blocked shots with 8.3 per game, St. John's recorded nine swats on the night. The Red Storm has blocked at least eight shots five times this season, including each of the past four games.
- The Red Storm dealt a season-high 19 assists on 33 field goals and turned the ball over just seven times, the third time this season with seven or fewer turnovers.
Individual Notes
- D'Angelo Harrison scored a game-high 26 points, including 18 in the second half, to reach the 20-point mark for the sixth time in the first seven games. Harrison was 3-of-5 from long range and is shooting 56.5 percent (13-of-23) from distance in the past four games. The guard is averaging 21.9 points per game on the year, including 13.9 points in the second half alone.
- Amir Garrett recorded his second-career double-double, and second of the season, with a 15-point, 11-rebound performance. The sophomore also had 15 points and 11 boards in the season-opener against Detroit (Nov. 13).
- Phil Greene scored 13 points to reach double-figures for the fourth-straight game and sixth time this season. Greene is averaging 15.5 points and shooting 49.1 percent (27-of-55) from the floor in the past four games.
- JaKarr Sampson reached double-figures for the fifth-straight game with an 11-point night. The freshman is averaging 15.0 points per game in that five-game stretch.
- Marco Bourgault drained a pair of 3-pointers to score a career-high six points in just nine minutes.
- Felix Balamou earned his second-straight start and tied a career-high with eight points. Balamou is averaging 8.0 points and 3.0 rebounds as a starter.
- Sir'Dominic Pointer dished out a team-high five assists and is averaging 5.5 helpers in the past two games.
