Queens, N.Y. -
On Tuesday, April 17, St. John's athletics hosted its annual on-campus Career Night, event to provide an opportunity for student-athletes to engage with employers and create valuable networking relationships.
"St. John's student-athletes have the skills that employers are looking for," said Dr. Michelle Kyriakides. "They have demonstrated that they are motivated and achievement-oriented both on and off the field. They excel in the classroom, in leadership positions, and throughout the community through their various service projects. This event allows our student-athletes to make the necessary connections to get started in their careers."
In attendance were 22 corporate representatives from various industries including sports, management, marketing, financial services, non-profit and education.
"It was a good opportunity for us to represent St. John's Athletics to potential employers," said track & field senior Aryon Trujillo. "It was great to have the chance to make connections for future internships or jobs for those of us that are graduating."
It was the second-consecutive year that Northwestern Mutual: Seery Financial Group sponsored the program. Robert Seery, the group's managing partner, delivered the keynote address offering his secrets to success.
A total of 58 student-athletes attended the event that was co-founded by Athletic Director Emeritus Jack Kaiser more than 30 years ago.
