BROOKLYN, N.Y. - Team Notes
- St. John's committed just eight turnovers in the game, the fewest since a six-miscue performance earlier this season in a win against Bucknell on Nov. 19. The Red Storm has committed fewer than 10 turnovers in six games this season and is 4-2 in such contests. St. John's is 7-1 this year when committing fewer turnovers than the opposition.
- The Red Storm shot 47.1 percent (24-of-51) from the floor, marking the third-straight game in which the squad has shot at least 47.0 percent. St. John's, which held Columbia to just 38.0 percent (19-of-50) shooting, improved to 8-2 when shooting better than the opposition.
- St. John's committed just 14 fouls in the game and improved to 6-0 this season when committing fewer than 15 fouls as a team.
- The Red Storm shot just 53.8 percent (14-of-26) from the charity stripe, but also allowed just 15 free throws and is now 8-0 when attempting more free throws than the opposition.
- The Red Storm finished +4 (35-31) on the glass to improve to 5-1 this season when outrebounding its opponent. St. John's has finished ahead or even on the boards in six of the past eight games.
- St. John's improved to 6-0 this season when leading at the half.
Individual Notes
- D'Angelo Harrison finished with a team-high 15 points, his ninth time this season leading the squad in scoring. Harrison went 1-of-3 from distance and is shooting 66.7 percent (8-of-12) from 3-point range in the past three games, while averaging a team-best 20.7 points in that same stretch.
- Orlando Sanchez reached double-figures for the third time in his career and also added a career- and game-high nine rebounds. Sanchez is averaging 11.4 points and a team-high 6.4 rebounds in the past five games.
- JaKarr Sampson gave the Red Storm three players in double-figures with an 11-point outing. Sampson also blocked a season-high three shots and added a season-best two steals.
- Jamal Branch shot 2-of-3 from the floor, including a 1-of-1 effort from distance, to finish with six points in just nine minutes of action. The 3-pointer was the first made by Branch since a 2-of-5 effort from long range against Georgetown on Jan. 12, 2013.
- Rysheed Jordan started his seventh game of the year and added seven points, two rebounds and one assist. Jordan has averaged 9.8 points, 4.0 boards and 3.3 assists per game in his last four contests.
- Phil Greene IV had one assist and zero turnovers in 17 minutes on the court. Greene now has five turnovers in 300 minutes on the court this season, just one miscue every 60.0 minutes of play.
- God'sgift Achiuwa finished with five points on 2-of-3 shooting and added one rebound in nine minutes of action. Achiuwa is averaging 5.5 points and shooting 66.7 percent (8-of-12) from the floor in his last four games played.
- Max Hooper went 1-of-1 from 3-point range and is now shooting 38.5 percent (10-of-26) from distance on the year. In three games this season at Barclays Center, Hooper is averaging 8.0 points and shooting 61.5 percent (8-of-13) from 3-point range.
