BOSTON, Mass. - The Red Storm's four-match weekend road trip was capped off with a 3-1 loss (25-23, 18-25, 19-25, 25-27) at Northeastern on Sunday afternoon. After winning three-straight matches during the Bryant Invitational, St. John's had a quick turnaround in facing Northeastern - a squad that went 20-7 overall last season. With the loss, the Red Storm moves to 11-5 on the season, while the Huskies improved to 7-6.
The Red Storm nearly extended the match to five sets with a tightly played fourth game that saw six lead changes and the score tied nine times. However, Northeastern promptly went back on top, 25-24, with a kill and a block. St. John's managed to tie the score at 25-25 with another kill by Palgutova, but kills by Northeastern's Kelly Bacon and Jamie Bredahl gave the Huskies a 27-25 set victory and ended the match.
Bacon posted a double-double with a match-high 24 kills on a .388 hitting percentage and 12 digs.
