QUEENS, N.Y. - Team Notes
- St. John's had not played multiple overtimes since defeating DePaul, 90-82, in a triple overtime game on March 5, 2010.
- St. John's finished with six players in double-figures, the second time this season with at least five players in double-figures. The Red Storm had five players reach double-figures against Fordham on Dec. 7, 2012.
- St. John's shot 42.5 percent (31-of-73) from the floor, while limiting Providence to just a 36.9 percent (24-of-65) effort. The Red Storm is now 8-4 when shooting better than the opposition.
- The Red Storm shot a season-high 83.3 percent (20-of-24) from the charity stripe, its best performance at the line since shooting 80.6 percent (29-of-36) against Wagner on Nov. 15, 2012.
- St. John's is 1-8 this season when shooting fewer free throws than the opposition. While the Red Storm went to the line 24 times (20-of-24), Providence had 36 attempts (30-of-36).
- St. John's was -8 (21-13) on the boards at halftime, but battled back to finish just -1 (44-43) on the glass for the game.
- After averaging 5.0 made 3s in its first four BIG EAST games, the Red Storm made just one trey and finished 1-of-10 from long range.
Individual Notes
- JaKarr Sampson scored a team-high 16 points to reach double-figures for the third time in five BIG EAST games and 13th time overall this season. Sampson also grabbed eight rebounds and is averaging a team-high 6.6 boards on the year.
- D'Angelo Harrison reached double-figures for the 66th time in his career and the 16th time this season with a 14-point performance. Harrison went 5-of-6 from the line and is shooting 89.3 percent (25-of-28) from the charity stripe in BIG EAST play.
- God'sgift Achiuwa finished with a season-high 11 points to post his first double-figure game since a 12-point performance against Rutgers on March 3, 2012. Achiuwa also grabbed a season-high eight boards, his most since a 12-rebound outing against Pittsburgh on March 6, 2012.
- Phil Greene IV scored 15 points to reach double-figures for the first time since Dec. 21, 2013 against Youngstown State. Greene had zero turnovers in 38 minutes on the court and has just seven turnovers in 420 minute this season, one every 60.0 minutes of play.
- Orlando Sanchez reached double-figures for the second-straight game with a 12-point effort. Sanchez also recorded four assists, his most since also posting four assists against Fordham on Dec. 7, 2012.
- Sir'Dominic Pointer scored in double-figures for the sixth time this season with an 11-point performance. Pointer also grabbed seven boards, his most since pulling down nine rebounds against Fordham on Dec. 7, 2012.
- Rysheed Jordan dished out four assists, his fifth game this season with at least four helpers. Jordan is averaging 9.3 points, 5.3 rebounds and 3.3 assists in the past three games.
