"The AliveAndKickn charity has been using soccer as a platform to promote awareness and raise money for colon cancer and genetic colon cancer and I want to personally encourage our fans and soccer community to lend their support," said Masur. "Colon cancer is one of the more under-funded cancers in our world today and while we are continuing to learn more and more about genetic cancers, more research is needed. This is a cause near and dear to my family as my wife, Shannon, had genetically-caused colon cancer almost five years ago."
Working under the motto `We are AliveAndKickn in a world with colorectal cancer,' AliveAndKickn raises money to help promote colon cancer awareness and genetic cancer research and support. On Friday, Oct. 10, from 6 p.m. to 2 a.m., the organization will be holding its third-annual AliveAndKickathon North Jersey at Overpeck County Park in Ridgefield Park, N.J.
