Esteves started and tallied two goals just 2:28 apart against the Bulldogs in a game that also marked his Division I debut. The forward gave St. John's a 1-0 lead with his first-career goal in the 53rd minute and doubled the advantage with his second goal in the 56th minute.
With the two goals, Esteves became the first Red Storm player to record a multi-goal game since Jack Bennett scored twice against Iona on Sept. 18, 2011.
Viteri, meanwhile, scored the golden goal in the 104th minute against the Bulldogs to secure the win for the Red Storm. The winner marked the first-career goal for the rookie, who became the ninth Red Storm player to score a goal this season as well as the fourth player to register a game-winning goal.
St. John's, which has posted a 4-1-2 record in its past seven games, returns to action on Oct. 11 with an 8:05 p.m. road game against No. 12 Marquette.
