QUEENS, N.Y. - The St. John's men's soccer team was recognized for its academic accomplishments by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) as winners of the NSCAA Team Academic Award for the seventh-straight season.
"We are pleased to once again earn the NSCAA Team Academic Award as it shows how hard our student-athletes are working off the field in addition to their on-field efforts," said head coach Dr. Dave Masur. "I'd like to thank both Eric Rienecker and Ray Howell from Academic Support for their continued efforts in supporting our student-athletes. Both the Athletic Department and the University place great value on the combination of academic and athletic achievements, and our student-athletes recognize and embrace those expectations."
A total of 861 (280 men's, 581 women's) programs across all divisions posted the required team grade point average of 3.0 or higher for the 2013-14 academic year. One of seven BIG EAST schools to earn the award, the Red Storm posted a 3.07 team GPA.
St. John's has won the NSCAA Team Academic Award a total of 11 times (2014, 2013, 2012, 2011, 2010, 2009, 2008, 2006, 2004, 2003 and 2000).
