QUEENS, N.Y. - After a standout career as a four-year starter at St. John's, defender Tim Parker has been invited by Major League Soccer to the 2015 adidas MLS Player Combine. A total of 55 NCAA Division I seniors were invited by MLS after being selected by a committee of NCAA Division I coaches and MLS representatives.
The combine will be held in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., from Jan. 8-13 in advance of the 2015 MLS SuperDraft, which will take place on Jan. 15 in Philadelphia.
St. John's has had at least one player invited to the MLS Player Combine in each of the past three seasons and has totaled 11 invitees since the 2005 Combine.
"Tim was a dominant force on the backline for us for four years and he is not only a great soccer player, but a great young man as well," said St. John's head coach Dr. Dave Masur. "Tim has an excellent combination of skills, which will serve him well at the next level. We are excited for him and wish him luck."
The first three-time NSCAA All-Region selection for St. John's since Chris Wingert (2001-03), Parker earned third team All-Region honors this past season to go with a pair of first team All-Region selections (2012-13).
Parker also earned BIG EAST honors in each of his four seasons with the Red Storm. The defender was a unanimous first team All-BIG EAST honoree as a senior and also earned first team accolades as a junior. Parker was a second team selection as a sophomore and earned All-Rookie honors as a freshman.
Parker appeared in 79-of-80 Red Storm games in his four seasons and made 78 starts. The defender finished with four goals, two-game-winners, and added four assists, while anchoring a defense that posted 30 shutouts. Parker helped lead the Red Storm to three-straight NCAA Tournament appearances (2011-13) and the 2011 BIG EAST Tournament title.
