NEW YORK - Team Notes
- St. John's scored 74 points and shot 46.4 percent (26-of-56) against a Marquette defense that entered the game ranked first in scoring defense (64.8 points) and tied for first in field goal percentage (39.6 percent).
- St. John's notched its first win against Marquette since Feb. 15, 2011 when the Red Storm defeated the Golden Eagles, 80-68. The 15-point margin of victory also marks the second-largest in series-history, trailing just an 85-69 win on Feb. 23, 1961.
- The Red Storm took a 13-point lead into the break and improved to 10-2 this season when leading at halftime.
- St. John's finished with 12 blocks, its most in BIG EAST play this season and its most since a 15-block effort earlier this season against Longwood on Nov. 26.
- The Red Storm shot 40.0 percent (8-of-20) from long range, the seventh time this season that the squad has shot at least 40.0 percent from distance. St. John's is 4-3 in such contests.
- St. John's shot 70.0 percent (14-of-20) from the charity stripe and improved to 10-1 this season when shooting more free throws than the opposition.
Individual Notes
- D'Angelo Harrison made a season-high six 3-pointers and finished with a game-high 27 points, his 10th 20-point game of the season and 34th of his career. Harrison, who shot 6-of-11 from distance, last made six 3s in a game on Jan. 2, 2013 when he finished 6-of-12 and scored a career-high 36 points.
- Chris Obekpa made his first start since Dec. 15 against Syracuse and finished with seven points, seven rebounds and seven blocks. The seven blocks marked the most for the sophomore since a seven-block performance earlier this season against Penn State on Nov. 29. Obekpa is averaging 9.0 points per game in the past two games.
- Rysheed Jordan dished out a career-high seven assists, his third-career game with at least five assists. Jordan also grabbed two steals and is averaging 2.5 thefts in the past two games.
- JaKarr Sampson reached double-figures for the 18th time this season with a 10-point effort. Sampson has scored in double-figures in 7-of-9 BIG EAST games.
- Phil Greene IV finished with seven points and had one assist with zero turnovers in 25 minutes. Greene has just seven turnovers in 502 minutes on the year, one every 71.7 minutes on the court, and has not had a miscue since committing one at Georgetown on Jan. 4, 2014.
