Palgutova Garners Spot on BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll

QUEENS, N.Y. - Senior outside hitter Karin Palgutova was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll, as announced by the conference office on Monday afternoon. In a 1-1 week for St. John's, Palgutova became the Red Storm's all-time career kills leader.
St. John's swept Georgetown on the road Friday before traveling to Nebraska to face Creighton Sunday, in which the Red Storm fell in straight sets. Palgutova registered a team-high 11 kills and eight digs against the Hoyas. She then set the kills record against the Bluejays with 10 kills and eight digs.
The native of Bratislava, Slovakia, also recorded 2.67 digs per set during the week. Palgutova led the team in kills in both matches and currently ranks second in the BIG EAST in points per set (3.86) and fourth in kills per set (3.86).
This marks the third time this season and 11th time in her career that Palgutova has been named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll. Most recently, she was named to the weekly honor roll on Sept. 28, while again picking up honors on Sept. 7.

St. John's will conclude its home-and-home series against Xavier and Butler in Queens next weekend. The Red Storm will take on the Musketeers on Friday, Oct. 30 at 7 p.m., and the Bulldogs on Saturday, Oct. 31 at 6 p.m. Both matches will be broadcasted live on ESPN3.
