St. John's Concludes Regular Season at Seton Hall, Villanova

QUEENS, N.Y. - St. John's (18-13, 8-8 BIG EAST) takes its three-match winning streak on the road this weekend to conclude the 2015 regular season against conference foes Seton Hall (12-16, 6-10 BIG EAST) and Villanova (22-7, 12-4 BIG EAST).
With 18 victories on the season, head coach Joanne Persico will be attempting to reach 20 wins for the 10th time in her 22 years at the helm.
The Red Storm will take on the Pirates at Walsh Gymnasium in South Orange, N.J. on Friday, Nov. 20 at 7:00 p.m. St. John's lost in four sets to Seton Hall earlier this season, as the two teams will conclude its home-and-home series. The Red Storm will then turn its attention to the Wildcats on Saturday at 7:00 p.m. Jake Nevin Field House in Villanova, Pa. St. John's fell in straight sets to the Wildcats on Oct. 7., at Carnesecca Arena.

SCOUTING SETON HALL (12-16, 6-10 BIG EAST)
- The Pirates are coming off a three-set loss at Villanova on Saturday. Freshman Abby Thelen (Ft. Mitchell, Ky.) led The Hall with seven kills.
- Seton Hall has been eliminated from BIG EAST Tournament contention, but can still finish as high as fifth place. A pair of victories this weekend coupled with two losses by Butler and a St. John's loss to Villanova on Saturday would give the Pirates fifth place.
- The Pirates won a four-set match against St. John's earlier this season. Amanda Hansen recorded a double-double with 18 kills and 10 blocks. Danielle Schroeder had 14 kills and Abby Thelen had a career-high 13 kills.
- Head coach Allison Yeager is in her fourth season with Seton Hall and ninth overall.
- Seton Hall leads the all-time series over St. John's, 13-11.
SCOUTING VILLANOVA (22-7, 12-4 BIG EAST)
- On the season Villanova is led by sophomore Allie Loitz who is fifth in the conference with 366 kills. Loitz is also a leader in service aces with 0.38 aces per set and 40 aces.
- Emma Pettit leads the conference in both major setting statistics, total assists and assists per set, and is third in the conference, behind Loitz, with 35 aces and 0.33 aces per set.
- Gabby Pethokoukis leads a Wildcat defense that leads the conference in opponent's hitting percentage at .171 percent. Her 108 blocks is fifth in the BIG EAST and her .327 hitting percentage sixth in the conference.
- Josh Steinbach is currently in his ninth season as Villanova's head coach
- Villanova leads the all-time series 14-12 with the Red Storm last victory (3-0) against the Wildcats coming on Nov. 1, 2014.
BIANCHIN GARNERS FIRST-CAREER BIG EAST WEEKLY HONOR ROLL MENTION
- After helping the Red Storm win back-to-back five-setters over the weekend, freshman Margherita Bianchin was named to her first-career BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll, as announced by the conference office on Monday.
During a week in which St. John's (18-13, 8-8 BIG EAST) went 2-0, the outside hitter recorded double-digits in kills in both matches. - The native of Treviso, Italy, averaged 2.30 kills and 2.30 digs per set.
RED STORM RALLIES TO DEFEAT DEPAUL IN FIVE SETS ON SENIOR DAY
- With the help of a large crowd that was energetic throughout the afternoon, the St. John's volleyball team defeated DePaul, 3-2 (25-20, 16-25, 25-21, 21-25, 15-6) Sunday to win its third-consecutive match.
- The Red Storm improved to 18-13 overall and 8-8 in the BIG EAST, while DePaul fell to 16-13 on the season and 4-12 in league play.
- St. John's last won on Senior Day on Nov. 7, 2010, when they defeated Georgetown in four sets.
THE STREAK ENDS: ST. JOHN'S DEFEATS MARQUETTE IN FIVE SET THRILLER
- In a match that went back-and-forth, the St. John's volleyball squad rallied behind their seniors to pull out a gutsy 3-2 (15-25, 25-13, 30-28, 19-25, 15-11) victory against Marquette Saturday afternoon in Carnesecca Arena.
- With the victory, St. John's snapped a 10-match losing streak to the Golden Eagles dating back nearly 10 years. St. John's won in straight sets at home on Nov. 4, 2007.
- The Red Storm were led by seniors Yaidy Santiago, Karin Palgutova and Shawna-Lei Santos, whom all recorded double-doubles.

- With 443 total kills, Palgutova ranks second in the BIG EAST and 32nd in the NCAA.
