Stashak Garners BIG EAST Pitcher Of The Week Honors

QUEENS, N.Y. - After allowing just one run in his Division I debut against then-No. 19 Kennesaw State, junior Cody Stashak has been named the BIG EAST Pitcher of the Week.
A transfer out of Cumberland County College, Stashak tossed 7.1 innings of one-run ball in a 6-2 win against the Owls. The righty allowed four hits, while striking out two and issuing one walk.
Stashak worked six 1-2-3 innings, retired 11-straight at one point and faced just three batters over the minimum.
St. John's (1-2) returns to action on Feb. 20, opening play at the Keith LeClair Classic with a 4 p.m. game against host-school East Carolina. The Red Storm will also play Liberty (Feb. 21) and Michigan (Feb. 22) at the event.
