Harrison and Pointer Earn All-BIG EAST Honors

The BIG EAST Player of the Year will come from the All-BIG EAST First Team. The conference will announce Player of the Year, BIG EAST Coach of the Year, BIG EAST Rookie of the Year and BIG EAST Scholar-Athlete of the Year on Wednesday, March 11. The announcement will be made on the first day of the BIG EAST Championship Presented by New York Life at Madison Square Garden at 4:30 p.m. ET.
Harrison is the fifth player in St. John's history to receive All-BIG EAST First Team honors in multiple seasons, and the first since Marcus Hatten (2002 and 2003) to earn it in back-to-back years. Harrison became only the third Johnnie to score over 2,000-points, while the 6-foot-4 guard also engraved his name in ninth place in the BIG EAST record book with 1,178 career points in conference games.
Harrison started all 31 contests helping St. John's to 21 victories, which matched the program's highest win total through the regular-season since 1998-99. He scored double-figures 28 times, including 14 20-point performances. The Red Storm's career 3-point leader ranks fifth in the BIG EAST with 64 threes this season, averaging 2.1 per contest. Harrison is 12th in the league with 5.5 rebounds per game.
A two-time BIG EAST Player of the Week and four-time Weekly Honor Roll selection, Harrison recorded three double-doubles, including a season-high 33 points and 10 rebounds on February 11 versus DePaul. He currently ranks fifth among NCAA Division I active players with 2,153 career points and is one of five players in the nation to record 500 rebounds, 200 3s, 200 assists and 100 steals in his career.
Pointer was one of the most dynamic players in the BIG EAST this season ranking in the top-10 of the conference in scoring (13.7 ppg), rebounding (7.6 rpg), blocks (2.5 bpg), steals (2.0 spg), assist-to-turnover ratio (1.6) and field goal shooting percentage (52.6 pct). The 6-foot-6 swingman from Detroit started 30 of 31 appearances and had eight double-doubles, which were the second most in the conference. Pointer had the ninth highest scoring average in conference play with 14.7 points per game and he was fourth averaging 7.5 rebounds.
The 29th player in St. John's history to receive BIG EAST First or Second Team honors, Pointer scored double-figures in 16 of the last 17 games of the regular-season. He received seven BIG EAST weekly awards in 2014-15, including the Player of the Week on March 2 after averaging 21.5 points, 8.0 rebounds, 4.0 blocks, 2.5 assists, 2.5 steals in wins over Xavier and Georgetown.
Pointer became the 50th 1,000-point scorer in program history. He is the only player to rank in the top-5 for career steals (198) and blocks (170).
Winners of seven of the last nine regular-season contests, St. John's (21-10) enters the BIG EAST Championship Presented by New York Life as one of the hottest teams in the conference. The fifth-seeded Red Storm meet fourth-seeded Providence (21-10, 11-7) on Thursday at 2:30 p.m. at Madison Square Garden in a quarterfinal matchup on FOX Sports 1 and 970 AM WNYM.

QUEENS, N.Y.- St. John's seniors D'Angelo Harrison and Sir'Dominic Pointer each received All-BIG EAST honors as announced Sunday by the league.
