Final Capital One Cup Standings
QUEENS, N.Y. - Capital One Financial Corporation announced the official updated standings through the fall and winter season for the Capital One Cup, which is awarded each year to the best men's and women's NCAA Division I athletic programs in the country. St. John's finished the 2014-15 season ranked 77th for its women's programs and 92nd for its men's programs.
The Red Storm had five teams earn trips to the NCAA Tournament, including men's basketball, baseball, softball, men's and women's fencing, and men's tennis. Baseball advanced to the Regional Finals, while the fencing program finished sixth in the country.
St. John's is one of only two BIG EAST schools to be represented in both the men's and women's Capital One Cup standings, joining Georgetown.
Schools earn Capital One Cup points based on their teams' top 10 finishes in NCAA Division I championships and in final official coaches' polls across 20 women's and 19 men's sports as they compete to win the Capital One Cup trophy and a combined $400,000 in scholarships for student-athletes. The Capital One Cup winners will be honored at this month's ESPY Awards.
