Dixon Named To Johnny Bench Award Watch List

QUEENS, N.Y. - Junior Troy Dixon has been selected as one of 74 catchers named to the Watch List for the Johnny Bench Award, an honor presented annually by the Greater Wichita Area Sports Commission to the top Division I catcher in the nation.
Dixon is batting .241 (7-for-29) with one double, one triple and three RBI in nine games this season. The junior has scored three runs and posted a .361 on-base percentage, while posting a 1.000 fielding percentage in 71 chances.
A second team All-BIG EAST selection last season, Dixon batted .254 with one double, two triples and two home runs. Dixon added 17 RBI and 17 runs scored in 46 games, 33 starts. Playing primarily as a designated hitter, Dixon also served as the backup catcher and threw out 10-of-20 base stealers (50.0 percent).
Dixon batted .284 with five doubles, 16 RBI and 16 runs scored in 40 games, 33 starts, as a freshman. In backup catching duty, Dixon threw out 5-of-15 base stealers (33.3 percent).
