Nick Vendikos Named Senior Director of Athletic Development

Sept. 30, 2016 QUEENS, N.Y. ââ'¬" Earlier this month, Nick Vendikos was named the Senior Director of Development for Athletics at St. John's. In this role, he is responsible for the department's fundraising activities and special events to support Red Storm Athletics initiatives.
Vendikos previously served as Director of Development for Catholic Foundation for Brooklyn and Queens | Futures in Education and was on the senior management team of Generations of Faith -- the most successful capital campaign in the Diocese's history, which raised $130 million.
From 2010-12, Vendikos guided the Cabrini Mission Foundation (CMF) as President and Chief Executive Officer. In this role, he was responsible for guiding development for the organization's institutions around the world.
Prior to Cabrini, Vendikos served as the Vice President of Development at the United States Merchant Marine Academy Alumni Foundation from 2006-08 and was responsible for Kings Point's successful $45 million capital campaign during his tenure.
Before his time at the Merchant Marine Academy, Vendikos was also the Director of Development for five years at his alma mater, Xaverian, where he oversaw a $10 million capital campaign for the revered Brooklyn high school that also produced Men's Basketball Head Coach Chris Mullin.
Vendikos also possesses professional experience at St. John's, having worked in the Office of Institutional Advancement from 1999-2001. During that time, Vendikos was instrumental in helping the University reach its goal of raising $150 million in just a few short years.
Vendikos' first development position was at La Salle Academy in New York City from 1997-99. As Director of Development, he helped La Salle raise more than $2.1 million in a capital campaign, the largest in the school's history.
Vendikos is a founding member of the Knights of Columbus, St. Bernard Council. In 2012, he was inducted as a Knight of the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulcher of Jerusalem. In 2013, he was named a Distinguished Alumnus of Xaverian High School and honored as "King of Kings" by Courier-Life Publications.
Vendikos received a bachelor of science in journalism from St. John's University in 1991. He and his wife, Ismini, a St. John's alumna from the Class of 1992, have been married for 20 years and are the parents of 16-year-old twins, Nicky and Katey, who attend Xaverian and The Notre Dame School (Manhattan), respectively.
