QUEENS, N.Y. - After helping the Red Storm capture three crucial BIG EAST points on Saturday at DePaul, Andrew Withers was honored by the conference office on Monday afternoon for his efforts, earning a spot on the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll.
Withers, who was named the BIG EAST Goalkeeper of the Week on Sept. 11, finds himself on the five-person honor roll for the third time this season and the second time in the last four weeks.
Withers stopped all five of DePaul's shots on goal in a 1-0 victory for the Red Storm to pick up his sixth shutout of the season. Already among the national leaders in save percentage and goals against average, the redshirt junior raised the former metric to .841 while lowering the latter to 0.69, which rank ninth and 20th in the NCAA, respectively. His six clean sheets are 25th in Division I and are the most by a St. John's keeper since Rafael Diaz tallied nine during the NCAA Tournament campaign of 2013.
Thanks to Withers' efforts between the pipes, the Red Storm now sits in sole possession of third place in the conference standings with a BIG EAST record of 3-2-1.
The Red Storm returns to action on Wednesday evening, playing host to Villanova at Belson Stadium. First kick is set for 7 p.m. on the BIG EAST Digital Network.
