The Three-Time All-American is one of 32 players competing for a chance to represent the U.S.
The most decorated player in program history, Kieran McArdle, was named to the Team USA Indoor Training roster by U.S. Men's Senior Team Head Coach Regy Thorpe on Wednesday afternoon. McArdle becomes one of 32 players to advance to the U.S. training team in preparation for the 2019 FIL World Indoor Lacrosse Championship.
"This comes as no surprise to me and the rest of our coaching staff. Seeing Kieran continue to get better and strive for greatness on a national level motivates our guys and our program to reach for higher success," said Red Storm Head Coach Jason Miller.
McArdle, a three-time United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) All-American and two-time BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Year, remains the Red Storm's all-time leader in career points, goals and assists. He also became the first player in St. John's history to amass 200 points, 100 assists and 100 goals in a career.
McArdle has had a stellar career in Major League Lacrosse as a member of the Florida Launch and with the Toronto Rock of the National Lacrosse League. After being drafted fifth overall in the 2014 MLL Draft, McArdle scored 34 goals and dished 15 assists for 49 points, paving his way to being named the 2014 MLL Rookie of the Year. McArdle has been named to the MLL All-Star game in each of the past three seasons and has recorded 221 goals and 126 assists in his 92-game career.
The United States has medaled at each of the previous four FIL World Indoor Lacrosse Championships, earning bronze in 2003, 2007, 2011 and 2015.
McArdle will feature with the rest of the U.S. Indoor training team in Columbus, Ohio, for a training weekend on Oct. 19-21.
