Freshman recognized after recording a goal and an assist against Fairfield
Freshman forward Tani Oluwaseyi received his first recognition from the conference on Monday afternoon, earning a spot on the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll.
Â
The Mississauga, Ont., native scored the game winner and added an assist for St. John's against Fairfield on Friday night, finding the back of the net in the 92nd minute. Oluwaseyi's golden goal was his second in as many outings.Â
Â
Oluwaseyi's two goals and two assists are good enough for the best start in terms of offensive production for a St. John's freshman since Wojtek Krakowiak in 1996. That year, Krakowiak would go on to score 11 goals for the St. John's, including the game winner in the national championship game.
Â
With six points through three games, Oluwaseyi is one of just two St. John's players alongside teammate Matt Forster to record six points in the opening three games of a season since 2010.
Â
Oluwaseyi has helped St. John's to a 2-1 record in the team's first three games, the program's best start to a campaign since 2013.
Â
Oluwaseyi and St. John's return to action tomorrow night at Belson Stadium, hosting Lehigh at 7:30 p.m.
