St. John’s to Participate in 2020 NIT Season Tip-Off

Red Storm joins loaded field of Arizona, Texas Tech and Cincinnati at Barclays Center
QUEENS, N.Y. – The St. John's men's basketball team won't have to travel far to take part in one of the nation's premier early-season tournaments next fall, as the Red Storm has been selected to compete in the 2020 NIT Season Tip-Off, it was officially announced this afternoon.
The NIT Season Tip-Off, which will be held for a sixth straight year at Barclays Center, will feature St. John's, Texas Tech, Arizona and Cincinnati in a four-team tournament format. The semifinals will take place on Wednesday, Nov. 25, before the championship and consolation games are held on Friday, Nov. 27.
Specific matchups and start times will be announced at a later date.
St. John's last competed in the NIT Season Tip-Off in 2014. Led by a senior class featuring D'Angelo Harrison, Phil Greene IV, Sir'Dominic Pointer and Jamal Branch, the Red Storm topped Minnesota in the semifinal before falling to No. 10 Gonzaga in the title game.
2020 will mark the program's seventh appearance all-time in the NIT Season Tip-Off. The Johnnies are 14-7 all-time in the tournament dating back to 1985.
Both Texas Tech and Arizona are currently ranked in the top 15 of the Associated Press Top 25 poll which Cincinnati is receiving votes.
