Chandler Named to BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll

QUEENS, N.Y. – After leading the St. John's men's soccer team to its eighth shutout of the season on Saturday night against Seton Hall, Matt Chandler has been named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll, it was announced on Monday by league office.

This marks Chandler's second career BIG EAST weekly honor, as he was named BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week in September of 2019.

St. John's and Seton Hall played to a scoreless draw on Saturday night at Belson Stadium, as the Red Storm improved to 3-1-2 in BIG EAST play.

The Johnnies outshot the Pirates, 16-5, including an 11-3 edge in shots after the intermission.

On the season, St. John's leads the BIG EAST and ranks seventh in the nation with a 0.51 goals against average on the campaign through games played on Saturday.

Entering a midweek showdown with top-ranked Georgetown, St. John's sits in fourth place in the BIG EAST standings. The top six teams qualify for the BIG EAST Men's Soccer Championship while the top two earn a bye to the semifinals.
