Rastelli Named BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week

The senior receives the honor for the third time this season
QUEENS, N.Y. (Oct. 25, 2021) – Rachele Rastelli has been named BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week for the third time this season, the league announced on Monday afternoon.
This marks Rastelli's fourth honor in as many weeks and her sixth honor this season. The Parma, Italy, native was previously recognized as Offensive Player of the Week on Sept. 13 and Oct. 4 while her three honor roll mentions came on Sept. 6, Oct. 11 and Oct. 18.
The senior right-side hitter notched 34 kills on the weekend. In a three-set sweep over Xavier on Saturday, Rastelli recorded a double-double notching 16 kills on a .306 clip with 10 digs and a solo block. In the match against Butler on Sunday, she contributed 18 kills, two block assists, and a service ace.
On Saturday, Rastelli moved into sixth place on the program's career kills list passing Hui Ping Huang (2005-2007) who had 1,300. Entering the week, Rastelli boards 1,326 kills for her St. John's career.
On the national level, Rastelli is ranked within the top 30 in five different categories. She leads the BIG EAST in kills and ranks fifth nationally with 386 total kills. The only BIG EAST player to record more than 4.00 kills per set, she currently sits in a tie for 19th place in Division I with 4.39 kills per set.
Overall this season, Rastelli has recorded double-digit kills in 21 of her 24 appearances, including six matches with more than 20 kills.
