Red Storm Hosts “An Evening with St. John’s Basketball”

QUEENS, N.Y. – Supporters of the Red Storm gathered on Thursday night at The Plaza for the annual "An Evening with St. John's Basketball" dinner, raising funds and generating excitement for the St. John's men's basketball program.

Following a cocktail reception and silent auction, the official program kicked off with the evening's special guests: Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Famer Charles Barkley and St. John's legend Jayson Williams, who shared stories from their days as stars in the college and NBA ranks.

After dinner, three esteemed members of the University's leadership took the stage in St. John's University President Rev. Brian J. Shanley, O.P., Director of Athletics Mike Cragg and Head Men's Basketball Coach Mike Anderson. Each of the three men thanked the gathered crowd for their loyal support and shared their vision for St. John's moving forward into the future.

In total, the evening raised in excess of $350,000 for the men's basketball program.

St. John's returns to action Saturday afternoon at Madison Square Garden, playing host to Pittsburgh in a 12 p.m. tip-off on FS1.
