Six Johnnies recognized for outstanding achievements with the Red Storm
QUEENS, N.Y. – The St. John's Athletic Department inducted its 2022 Hall of Fame Class on Saturday night during a ceremony inside Carnesecca Arena. The Hall of Fame's 23rd induction class included six individuals for their contributions to St. John's Athletics spanning six decades: Ed Blankmeyer, Priscilla Frederick-Loomis, Jerry Houston, Kieran McArdle, Nadirah McKenith and Jayson Williams.
The evening began with an invocation from Campus Minister for Athletics Father Richard Rock, C.M., and remarks from Athletic Director Mike Cragg.
"This is a special night," said Cragg. "This is truly one of my favorite events of the year, not just to welcome in the newest class to the Hall of Fame, but to be back together on-campus at St. John's Uniersity. I have a passion for St. John's as much as you do. That's the bond we all share."
All six inductees were then introduced by a chosen presenter before taking to the podium themselves and delivering poignant remarks about their time at St. John's and how it shaped them beyond the fields of play. Their experiences spanned generations and represented differing sports, but each honoree came back to how their time at St. John's changed their lives for the better.
Established in 1984-85, the St. John's Athletics Hall of Fame consists of over 160 members representing the majority of the Red Storm's current sports teams as well as discontinued programs. In addition to former student-athletes and coaches, administrators and honorary members have been inducted into the Hall for their valued contributions and accomplishments during their time associated with St. John's Athletics.
