Four Johnnies Named to 2022 CSC Academic All-District Team

Four Red Storm among 21 BIG EAST players selected
QUEENS, N.Y. (NOV. 25, 2022) – Four members of the St. John's volleyball team were announced on Friday to the 2022 CSC Academic All-District Team. Graduate student Rachele Rastelli, junior Eleonora Tosi, and sophomores Giorgia Walther and Wiktoria Kowalczyk all earned their first selections of their respective careers. The four individuals are among the 21 players selected from BIG EAST programs.
The four selections will be included on the ballot for Academic All-America first, second and third teams. The CSC recognizes athletes with a GPA greater than 3.50, and who made a significant impact for their team during the season on the court as well. These four Red Storm individuals had success in both the classroom and on the volleyball court as well.
Rastelli and Walther both finished in the Top 50 in total kills and points in all of the NCAA. Rastelli led the team in points and Walther paced the team in kills.
Kowalczyk posted the 13th most assists in the country and was third in the BIG East in assists per set. Tosi was among one of the elite blockers on the Red Storm squad this season. Tosi finished with 85 total blocks and .87 blocks per set.
The CSC will announce the 2022 Volleyball Academic All-America Teams on December 21st.
St. John's finished the regular season and BIG EAST Tournament with a 19-13 record and will wait to see if they will be included in NIVC field selection on Sunday evening.
