QUEENS, N.Y. – Tickets are on sale for the 2022 St. John's Athletics Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony, which will be held Saturday, October 22, inside Carnesecca Arena on the University's Queens campus.
The Hall of Fame celebration begins at 6 p.m. with a reception that includes hors d'oeuvres and open bar (beer and wine) followed by the formal induction ceremony at 7 p.m. Tickets are $75 per person and are available to purchase online only through October 21. The 2022 Athletics Hall of Fame class includes former student-athletes and coaches who achieved excellence in their respective sport while representing St. John's on the national and international levels. This year's cohort includes baseball coaching legend Ed Blankmeyer, Olympians Priscilla Frederick from women's track & field and Daryl Homer from men's fencing, men's basketball captain and NIT champion Jerry Houston, men's lacrosse All-American Kieran McArdle, two-time All-BIG EAST selection Nadirah McKenith of women's basketball, as well as men's basketball standout and NBA All-Star Jayson Williams.
Established in 1984-85, the St. John's Athletics Hall of Fame consists of nearly 160 members representing the majority of the Red Storm's current sports teams as well as discontinued programs. In addition to former student-athletes and coaches, numerous administrators and honorary members have been inducted into the Hall for their valued contributions and accomplishments during their time associated with St. John's Athletics.
The Athletics Hall of Fame ceremony is one of the many signature events that will make up the University's Homecoming Weekend, which runs from October 21 - 23 on the Queens campus. The weekend begins with the Red Storm Parade followed by Red Storm Tip-Off, an annual celebration to introduce the men's and women's basketball teams, on Friday, October 21 inside Carnesecca Arena. On Saturday, October 22, prior to the Athletics Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony, the University will host Homecoming Fest, featuring great food, drinks and activities. On Sunday, October 23, an Alumni and Community Mass will be held at St. Thomas More Church at 11 a.m. followed by the St. John's women's soccer team's match with Marquette at 1 p.m. at Belson Stadium.
