Brandon Knapp Named to TopDrawerSoccer Team of the Week

QUEENS, N.Y. – After helping the Red Storm to a 3-1 win over Georgetown in its BIG EAST opener on Friday night at Belson Stadium, Brandon Knapp has been named to the TopDrawerSoccer Team of the Week, it was announced on Tuesday.

The graduate student played all 90 minutes on the Red Storm back line, limiting the Hoyas' potent offense to one goal off an indirect free kick inside the box.

Knapp also contributed on the offensive end, scoring the eventual game-winner on a penalty kick in the 23^rd minute of action. Knapp, who led the team last season in both goals (5) and assists (6), has found the back of the net twice so far in 2022.

A three-time All-BIG EAST selection, Knapp earned Frist Team All-BIG EAST honors as a senior last season after finding a spot on the all-conference third team in both 2019 and 2020-21. He is just the ninth player in program history to earn three separate all-league accolades and is looking to become only the second St. John's player alongside 2003 MAC Hermann winner Chris Wingert to do so four times.

Knapp and the Red Storm will return to action on Friday night when they host Villanova at Belson Stadium. Kick-off is set for 7 p.m. on the BIG EAST Digital Network, available on FloFC.
