Red Storm fencing alumnus Daryl Homer to defer Hall of Fame Induction due to scheduling conflict
QUEENS, N.Y. – St. John's alumnus and three-time Olympian Daryl Homer has deferred his induction into the University's Athletics Hall of Fame due to a scheduling conflict with his professional responsibilities.
The St. John's Athletics Hall of Fame Class of 2022, which now features six individuals who achieved excellence in their respective sport, will participate in a formal induction ceremony on Saturday, October 22, inside Carnesecca Arena as part of the University's Homecoming Weekend. This year's inductees include baseball coaching legend Ed Blankmeyer, Olympian Priscilla Frederick from women's track & field, men's basketball captain and NIT champion Jerry Houston, men's lacrosse All-American Kieran McArdle, two-time All-BIG EAST selection Nadirah McKenith of women's basketball, as well as men's basketball standout and NBA All-Star Jayson Williams.
Tickets are still available for the 2022 St. John's Athletics Hall of Fame Ceremony. The celebration begins at 6 p.m. with a reception that includes hors d'oeuvres and open bar (beer and wine) followed by the formal induction ceremony at 7 p.m. Tickets are $75 per person and are available to purchase online only through October 21. Congratulatory videoboard messages are also available to purchase online for $50 and will be displayed in Carnesecca Arena during the ceremony.
The Athletics Hall of Fame ceremony is one of the many signature events that will make up the University's Homecoming Weekend, which runs from October 21 - 23 on the Queens campus. The weekend begins with the Red Storm Parade followed by Red Storm Tip-Off, an annual celebration to introduce the men's and women's basketball teams, on Friday, October 21 inside Carnesecca Arena. On Saturday, October 22, prior to the Athletics Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony, the University will host Homecoming Fest, featuring great food, drinks and activities. On Sunday, October 23, an Alumni and Community Mass will be held at St. Thomas More Church at 11 a.m. followed by the St. John's women's soccer team's match with Marquette at 1 p.m. at Belson Stadium. A complete schedule of events is available at www.StJohns.edu/Homecoming.
