Annual celebration marks the start of 2023-24 men’s and women’s basketball season
QUEENS, N.Y.  – The St. John's men's and women's basketball teams hosted their annual Red Storm Tip-Off celebration inside Carnesecca Arena on Friday, officially signaling the start of the 2023-24 basketball seasons.

The evening featured various student contests and performances from the Red Storm cheer and dance squads before the 2023-24 men's and women's basketball teams were introduced. Each team showed off their talents with skills competitions to the delight of the Carnesecca Arena faithful.

Head men's basketball coach Rick Pitino and head women's basketball coach Joe Tartamella each addressed the near capacity crowd, thanking them for their support and urging them to bring energy all season long.

To cap the night, Grammy Award-winning hip-hop artist 2 Chainz took to the court and performed for more than 50 minutes.

The Red Storm women's basketball team will officially tip off the 2023-24 season on Nov. 6 at 7 p.m. when LIU visits Carnesecca Arena.

The St. John's men's basketball team is back at Carnesecca Arena on Saturday for a charity exhibition with Rutgers at 2 p.m. All ticket proceeds benefit the Dick Vitale Pediatric Cancer Research Fund at the V Foundation.

The first 1,000 students in attendance will receive an exclusive St. John's Basketball t-shirt. Fans will also receive a 2023-24 Red Storm men's basketball schedule poster. General admission tickets are still available to purchase for $10 by clicking here. Tickets are also available at the St. John's Box Office.

Then after hosting Pace on Oct. 29 for an exhibition in Queens, the Red Storm will open the 2023-24 campaign versus Stony Brook on Nov. 7 at Carnesecca Arena.
