Joel Soriano Selected to BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll

St. John’s senior center earns fourth Honor Roll selection after averaging 16.0 points, 12.5 rebounds and 4.5 blocks in two games last week
QUEENS, N.Y. – St. John's senior center Joel Soriano earned a spot on the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll, as announced by the conference on Wednesday.

The Johnnies' big man averaged 16.0 points, 12.5 rebounds and 4.5 blocks against Xavier and No. 5/5 UConn. Soriano opened conference play with a 18-point, 14-board double-double in an 81-66 rout of the Musketeers on Dec. 20. The Yonkers native also posted a career-high six blocks to go with five assists in the wire-to-wire victory.

Soriano followed up Wednesday's performance with a 14-point, 11-rebound effort in Hartford against the fifth-ranked Huskies. The 6-foot-11 center shot 4-for-5 from the field and went 6-for-7 at the free-throw line.

Soriano has scored double figures in all 12 games this season and extended his streak to 21 straight games with 10 points or more since Feb. 7, 2023.

In 12 starts this season, Soriano has averaged 17.7 points per game while shooting 66.4 percent from the floor (81-122 FG), which ranks eighth in Division I. Soriano also ranks top-10 in the nation averaging 4.5 offensive boards (3rd) and 10.8 rebounds (7th) per game. The Johnnies' center also stands among the national leaders with eight double-doubles (3rd) and 2.3 blocks per game (17th).

St. John's will wrap up its non-conference schedule against Hofstra on Saturday at 12 p.m. inside UBS Arena. The national telecast will air on FS1.
