The 6-foot-7 forward from Newhall, Calif. joins Red Storm for 2023-24 campaign
QUEENS, N.Y. – Hall of Fame coach Rick Pitino received a commitment from four-star forward Brady Dunlap who signed a National Letter Intent with the Johnnies on Tuesday. Rated as the 86th overall prospect and 22nd at his position in the Class of 2023 according to ESPN, Dunlap will join the St. John's men's basketball program for the 2023-24 season.
"Brady Dunlap has an awesome future," said Pitino. "He's a gym rat who shoots it as well as any wing basketball player out of the high school ranks. Brady is athletic, quick and will really thrive in our fastbreak system."
A 6-foot-7 wing from Newhall, Calif., Dunlap is a top-10 prospect from The Golden State who helped guide national powerhouse Harvard-Westlake to a 33-2 record last season. Harvard-Westlake finished the 2022-23 campaign ranked No. 6 nationally according to MaxPreps and No. 11 in ESPN's SCNext Top-25.
As a senior at Harvard-Westlake, Dunlap earned All-CIF First Team honors after averaging 17.0 points shooting 47.0 percent from the field to go with 5.0 rebounds per contest. Dunlap helped lead the Wolverines to the 2023 California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) championship, as he scored 16 points against Santa Maria St. Joseph in the open division title game on March 11 at Golden 1 Center.
During his junior year at Harvard-Westlake, Dunlap posted 16.7 points, 3.0 rebounds and 4.0 assists per game and earned All-CIF First Team honors.
Prior to his senior season at Harvard-Westlake, Dunlap averaged 16.0 points, 2.4 rebounds, and 2.0 assists per game for Strive For Greatness (Calif.), LeBron James' sponsored team, on the Nike EYBL Circuit in the summer of 2022. He also shot 46.0 percent from the floor and 34.0 percent from distance.
