Maggie Pruitt promoted to Assistant Athletic Director for Creative Services, Branding and Multimedia Production; Hromada named Director of Marketing & Promotions
QUEENS, N.Y. – The St. John's Athletic Department announced the hiring of Alex Hromada as Director of Marketing and Promotions and the promotion of Maggie Pruitt to Assistant Athletics Director for Creative Services, Branding and Multimedia Production on Monday.
Pruitt will be elevated to her new role after spending one year at St. John's as the Director of Creative Services and Branding. In this position, she will be responsible for oversight of the Red Storm's visual identity and execute the brand strategy for all 17 Division I programs. In addition, Pruitt will help advance the department's multimedia strategy and support the marketing initiatives of Red Storm Athletics. Pruitt will continue to serve as the department's lead graphic designer and digital strategist.
Pruitt arrived from Quinnipiac University, where she spent four years as an assistant director of communications, serving as the primary contact for seven different sports. In her last two years with the Bobcats, she was the lead graphic designer and revamped the visual identity for all 21 Quinnipiac athletic programs, including the nationally-ranked men's and women's and hockey teams. In 2019, Pruitt was the Media Relations Coordinator for the NCAA Women's Frozen Four, serving as the point of contact for all external media members during the championships.
Prior to Quinnipiac, Pruitt worked at Holy Cross as an assistant director of media relations. During her time in Worcester, Mass., she was responsible for editorial content, statistical analysis and external media requests for nine of the Crusaders' varsity teams.
Pruitt received her master's degree from Quinnipiac in 2021 in interactive media and communications. In 2017, she earned a bachelor's degree in journalism and sports communication from Shorter University in Rome, Ga., where she was a women's soccer player.
In his new role, Hromada will be in charge leading fan engagement and marketing efforts for all 17 varsity sports teams at St. John's. His day-to-day tasks will include leading gameday productions, executing marketing and advertising campaigns, overseeing sponsorship activation and supporting additional revenue generating initiatives.
Hromada arrives from Yale, where he spent two years working in the Bulldogs' athletic department and spent the 2022-23 school year as their Community Engagement Coordinator. In this position, he carried out gameday productions for Yale's 35 varsity sports teams, including football, men's and women's basketball and men's and women's ice hockey. He controlled videoboard operations and oversaw a team that carried out pre-game and in-game promotions. He spent the previous year as a Community Engagement Intern carrying out in-game music content and running in-arena promotions.
The Burnt Hills, N.Y. native brings previous work experience with MLS NEXT Pro's Rochester F.C., where he was responsible for a full menu of ticket solutions for the club, including season tickets, mini plans, season tickets and single-game tickets.
Hromada is a double alumnus of the University of New Haven, where he recently earned his master's of business administration in May. In 2022, he received a bachelor's of science in business management.
