QUEENS, N.Y. – The St. John's men's basketball program officially welcomes highly-touted graduate transfer Chris Ledlum to the 2023-24 roster. The 6-foot-6 forward from Brooklyn starred at Harvard where he was a unanimous First Team All-Ivy League selection last season.
"We are excited to have Chris Ledlum [join our program]," said Head Coach Rick Pitino. "He gives us another experienced front court player. We were a little thin at that spot and this reinforces what we need to have a complete roster."
Ledlum will bring a wealth of experience to the St. John's roster after appearing in 70 games during his career with the Crimson. In his three seasons at Harvard, Ledlum averaged 13.6 points and 6.7 rebounds per contest. In total, he scored 955 points, grabbed 470 rebounds and recorded 16 double-doubles.
As a senior in 2022-23, Ledlum had a career year averaging 18.8 points, 8.5 rebounds and 1.8 steals per contest. Ledlum led the Ivy League in rebounding and finished second in the conference in both scoring and steals. His 527 points last season were also the fifth-highest single-season total in program history.
Ledlum started 27 of his 28 appearances and finished with double figures in all but two games in 2022-23. He delivered 11 20+ point performances, including a pair of 30+ point outings. He scored a career-high 35 points on 12-of-17 shooting to go with 13 rebounds and six steals at Cornell on Feb. 18. Ledlum also recorded eight double-doubles last season.
In Ivy League action, Ledlum ranked top-three in the conference averaging 18.4 points, 8.5 rebounds and 1.9 steals per game. He finished eighth overall with 1.7 3-pointers per contest in conference play.
For his efforts in 2022-23, Ledlum earned First Team NABC All-District (District 13) and USBWA All-District I recognition. He was also named College Sports Communicators Second Team Academic All-America for his outstanding contributions on the court and in the classroom.
During an abbreviated junior season in 2021-22, Ledlum received the starting nod in all 13 appearances, averaging 16.7 points, 9.3 rebounds and 1.7 steals over 29.6 minutes per game. He recorded six double-doubles and registered double figures 12 times, including a season-high 28 points versus Iona on Nov. 13, 2021. Ledlum earned 2021-22 CoSIDA Academic All-America honors and was named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District I Team.
A five-time Ivy League Rookie of the Week during the 2019-20 season, Ledlum played in all 29 games as a freshman. He finished third on the team with 7.3 points to go with 3.8 rebounds per contest. Ledlum tied for third on the team with 18 blocks and registered double figures in 10 contests.
Prior to his tenure in Cambridge, Ledlum lettered two years at St. Peter's Boys and one at Northfield Mount Hermon. The 2019 Gatorade Massachusetts Player of the Year guided Northfield to the 2019 NEPSAC Championship and earned Championship Game MVP honors. In his one season at Northfield Mount Hermon, Ledlum set single-season (939) and single-game (51) scoring records. On the AAU circuit, he competed in the Adidas Gauntlet for the NY Jayhawks.
