St. John’s Basketball to Debut New Throwback Jerseys on Saturday at MSG

The Red Storm men’s basketball team to wear new custom Nike jerseys for its BIG EAST contest with Marquette at 12 p.m. on FOX
QUEENS, N.Y. – The St. John's men's basketball program has unveiled its newest throwback uniform set that will make its on-court debut Saturday at Madison Square Garden when the Red Storm (12-5, 4-3) hosts No. 17/18 Marquette (12-5, 3-3) at 12 p.m. FOX will carry the national broadcast live from "The World's Most Famous Arena."
The freshly designed uniforms were inspired by the original St. John's Red Storm jersey that was first worn during the 1994-95 season. The new look features the classic red and yellow 'St. John's' word mark across the chest that was displayed on the cover of Sports Illustrated on Nov. 28, 1994, as Red Storm Hall of Famer Felipe Lopez captured national attention with his iconic pose alongside the headline 'The BIG EAST is Back'.
St. John's new throwback uniform also features a custom design down the side that is symbolic to the vintage skyline pattern on the original shorts. On the opposite side of the new set, the shorts prominently display the first Red Storm logo, which includes a horse named 'Thunder' with lightning bolt motifs.
A custom court design will also be unveiled on Saturday to complement the custom throwback uniforms and pay homage to the Red Storm's original visual identity.
