Head Coach Joe Tartamella returns for his 13th season at the helm of the program and 22nd overall as part of the program. Last season, the Red Storm posted a third-place finish in the BIG EAST recording an 11-7 mark in league play and a 18-15 overall record. The Johnnies advanced and registered a victory in postseason for the second-straight year advancing to the Women's Basketball Invitational Tournament Second Round this past March.
Tartamella returns eight players from last year's squad, including four that combined for 88 starts. Ber'Nyah Mayo is the leading returning scorer amongst the group after averaging 10.9 points per game. The point guard became the first Red Storm player to tally more than 300 points, 100 rebounds, 100 assists and 50 steals in a single-season since the program's all-time leading scorer Aliyyah Handford in 2015-16. The Wilmington, Del., native ranked top-10 in the league in assists per game (3.5), assist-to-turnover ratio (1.9) and steals per game (1.7).
St. John's additionally welcomes a talented group of six newcomers comprised of four transfers and two freshmen. Combo guard Lashae Dwyer (Miami) and 6-foot-2 forward Kyle Lavelle (Penn State) made an impact at power conference programs. Ariana Vanderhoop was an All-CAA selection at Monmouth and Jade Blagrove ranked top-10 in the MAAC in rebounding at Manhattan. Freshman A'riel Little, a New York City product, is the program's highest-rated high school recruit in six years ranking top-100 in the country and Janeya Grant is a versatile three-level scorer from Middletown, Conn.
Pace, a Division II program located in Pleasantville, N.Y. is a member of the Northeast 10 Conference and is fresh off an 18-12 record in 2023-24.
