St. John’s junior wing averaged 18.0 points and 7.5 rebounds to help the Red Storm to a 2-0 week
QUEENS, N.Y. – Fresh off a pair of victories last week against Fordham and Quinnipiac, St. John's junior wing RJ Luis Jr. was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll, as announced by the league on Monday.
Luis averaged 18.0 points shooting 50.0 percent (12-24 FG) from the floor and 90.9 percent (10-11 FT) from the charity stripe over the two game stretch. The Miami native also registered 7.5 rebounds per game, including 3.0 boards on the offensive glass.
A 6-foot-7 wing, Luis recorded 12 points in the team's 92-60 season-opening victory over Fordham on Monday, knocking down two of his four makes from behind the arc. He also registered two rebounds, an assist and a block in just 13 minutes of work.
Luis shined in St. John's 96-73 win against Quinnipiac on Saturday with 24-point, 13-rebound double-double. He sparked the Red Storm in the second half with 16 points and nine boards over the final 20 minutes of the game.
St. John's will return to action on Wednesday when it plays host to Wagner inside Carnesecca Arena. Tip-off from Queens is slated for 6:30 p.m. on FS2.
